The hunger epidemic is affecting people all over the world. Because we aren’t experiencing it first hand, we forget that we’re all humans. The images on the outside of the bowl mean “stay human”, a phrase from Michael Franti, a huge supporter of human rights. There are smaller hearts and larger hearts to represent the adults and children that are suffering. There are also song lyrics on the underside of the rim that read “starvation is a creation of the devil”. The peace dove in the center of the bowl is traditionally carrying an olive branch; instead the dove is carrying a piece of wheat, which is a symbol of world hunger. I believe if we all remember that people, just like ourselves are suffering from an issue that can be solved if we would all just come together.
